FOR

FIRST-YEAR LAW STUDENTS

THE DELAWARE STATE BAR ASSOCIATION’S
COMMITTEE FOR DIVERSITY IN THE LEGAL COMMUNITY
INVITES YOU TO ATTEND THE

ELEVENTH ANNUAL DELAWARE MINORITY JOB FAIR
FOR FIRST-YEAR LAW STUDENTS
AT WIDENER UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW

SATURDAY, JANUARY 20, 2007
WILMINGTON, DELAWARE

Please visit your Career Placement Office on December 1, 2006 to learn more about the Delaware Minority Job Fair. The deadline for submitting your application is Monday, December 11, 2006.

Dear Student:

As part of an effort to recruit talented students and increase diversity in the Delaware Bar, a number of law firms, corporations, and governmental legal employers will participate in the Eleventh Annual Delaware Minority Job Fair for First-Year Law Students, which will be held on the Wilmington campus of Widener University School of Law on Saturday, January 20, 2007. The Job Fair, which is by invitation only, is limited to students who are in their first year of law school during the 2006-2007 school year.

We urge you to apply for an invitation to the Job Fair. The Delaware Minority Job Fair differs from many other job fairs in that students must be invited to attend rather than simply registering and showing up. In return, the students invited receive considerably more individual attention than is possible in a very large job fair. When you submit an application for an invitation you are, in effect, submitting an application to all of the Delaware legal employers who participate in the program. You will be eligible for an invitation if two or more of those employers wish to meet you. We plan to send out invitations enclosing a proposed interview schedule in early January 2007. Your response, accepting or declining the invitation, will be due by Monday, January 8, 2007.

There are no application or registration fees. If you are invited, you will need to arrange for your own transportation to Wilmington. We hope to be able to reimburse you for all or at least a portion of your transportation expenses. We historically have been able to reimburse 100% of such expenses. We will provide a breakfast to all invited students. A number of experienced attorneys and leaders of our Bench and Bar will join us for breakfast to answer any questions you might have about life and the practice of law in Delaware.

The Job Fair is a unique opportunity for law students not only to interview with a number of well-respected Delaware employers, but also to learn about the practice of law in the State from leaders of its legal community.

To become eligible for an invitation you must complete the attached application form and return it via mail, fax or e-mail, along with your resume and college and law school transcripts (if available) no later than Monday, December 11, 2006 to:

This article reminds me of this quote, "Seasonal unemployment was found to be a state which does not have much employment, for example, rural areas."

But there are career experts who conduct seminars giving advice about the needed skills to compete in today's competitive job market.
