Each of the fellowship recipients is assigned mentors from the environmental bar, who provide guidance and encouragement throughout the term of the Fellowship. ATASK (Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence) Annual Silk Road Gala – Volunteers Needed – November 3rd

The Silk Road Gala is the annual fundraising benefit for the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence. It began in 1992 when the Task Force needed to raise funds to support its Asian women's shelter, the first and only one in New England. Donations raised through the gala support the programs of the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence, a private, non-profit organization, which provides emergency shelter, a multilingual hotline, stabilization services, support, and advocacy to over 200 battered Asian families every year. Staff and community members work together using outreach and education to create an environment of intolerance towards domestic violence in Asian communities.

The Silk Road is a volunteer-run event. Volunteers work together to plan the event, request sponsorship, sell individual tickets, create an Asian food menu, book entertainment, create decorations, sell greetings for the program book, solicit silent auction items, promote media coverage, greet guests, and staff the event to ensure smooth gala operations.
