Racism on New Jersey 101.5

"The Jersey Guys" Make Outrageous and Racist Comments on New Jersey 101.5 FM Against Korean American Running for Edison Mayor!!

Is this another case of Miss Jones??

Craig Carton and Rich Rossi, known as "The Jersey Guys" made insensitive remarks towards the Asian Pacific Islander American community during the April 25, 2005 broadcast of their show. What started as comments against Jun Choi, a Korean American who is running for Edison, NJ mayor, turned into an outright attack against our community.

-----------
Carton : And here’s the bottom line... no specific minority group or foreign group should ever ever dictate the outcome of an American election. I don’t care if the Chinese population in Edison has quadrupled in the last year, Chinese should never dictate the outcome of an election, Americans should.
...
Carton: There should be like Asian-only rooms in casinos… but just to be fair, I have nothing against them…
...
Carton: And if we cry about it… you know what’s brought up? Slavery... or if we cry about it… well you know, ching chong, ching chong [Mimics Chinese accent] you bombed us [Chinese accent] you know? The fact is, I don’t care if whites are a minority, it doesn’t matter to me, there’s no voice of the average blue collar white guy anymore, cuz all these politicians are worried about the fringe groups.

From: Michelle Limaj
Sent: Thursday, April 28, 2005 8:48 AM

Dear Student Group Leader,

This weekend the BCLaw Students with Kids group is having a BBQ at my house, so that we can all meet each other's kids and significant others, and discuss activities for next year. If anyone in your memberships is interested in this group, either because they are thinking about having kids or are just interested in matters related to being a law student and a parent at the same time, they are invited to join us. Please feel free to pass this information along to your listserves, and let them know that if anyone is interested, he/she should send me an e-mail so that I can give more info (directions, time, etc.).

Thanks!
Michelle Limaj
